Following the success of his first Tango e no Michi project, Yasushi Ozawa and Orquesta Típica Corrientes returned for a second recording built upon the same idea: to approach classic Argentine tango through the musical language preserved on the original recordings.

The first album had demonstrated that a group of veteran Japanese tango musicians could revisit this repertoire without turning it into either nostalgia or modern reinterpretation. For the second project, producer Yoshihiro Oiwa carefully reviewed both the strengths and shortcomings of the 1978 recording, while also taking into account suggestions and requests received from fans.

Once again, twelve tangos were selected, principally works dating from 1900 to the early 1930s. The performances looked to Argentine recordings made between 1927 and the mid-1930s as their principal stylistic references.

Rather than simply repeating the first album, this second volume refined its concept and sound. TS 7.02 presents these remarkable recordings in excellent form.

In the second volume, TS 7.02, the fundamental principles remained unchanged. Ozawa and his musicians sought a disciplined ensemble sound, with phrasing, rhythm and character informed by records from approximately 1927–1935.

Compared with the previous year, these 1979 recordings are even more accomplished, and the overall soundstage is noticeably better balanced.

Interestingly, although the original second volume was released in 1980, its recording date remained unclear for many years. It was only through an article by recording engineer Tomohisa Ninomiya that we were able to confirm that these sessions actually took place in 1979 rather than 1980. Unfortunately, the exact recording date remains unknown.
